MATRIARCH is an exceptional Alden 40 Express Cruiser that has been extremely well maintained and continually upgraded by knowledgeable owners. One of only two 40' Express Cruisers built by Alden from the larger 46'/49' hull mold, she has a tremendous amount of volume for a 40' boat, providing two staterooms, a spacious galley, comfortable head with separate shower, large wheelhouse, and a proper engine room with excellent access.

The larger hull and substantial beam also give MATRIARCH a very solid and comfortable ride. Powered by twin Yanmar 350 HP diesels, she cruises comfortably at 18 knots at 2,850 RPM. She is a well-built, capable yacht that is equally at home cruising New England or making longer passages.

An extensive exterior cosmetic refit was completed during the winter of 2020–21 at Maine Yacht Center, including a freshly Awlgriped hull. As part of the work, all deck hardware was removed, properly prepped and rebedded, and the deck surfaces were primed and freshly painted with non-skid. In 2023, the bottom was sandblasted and received a new barrier coat and bottom paint. She has continued to be maintained to a very high standard since.
